Default Windshield when traveling

I plan on taking my cart to my local dealer to upgrade the speed setting this weekend. Is it necessary to remove the windshield? The manual states to, but after all it is a WINDshield.
Thanks

Folded mine and traveled 74 miles @65MPH (cart on a trailer of course) with no problems or damage. Just make sure that cart is facing forward!!!

I've taken mine on a 300 mile trip at 70 MPH twice. On a trailer facing forward and windshield not folded. By not folding the windshield it kept the bug splatter off of the interior of the cart. The only place I had to clean was the very back of roof on the underside and the front of roof on top and the windshield of course. The windshield traveled fine.

I travel frequently with my cart at speeds up to 70+ mph. I always fold my windshield and have never had a problem. I've made trips in excess of 200 miles. I always have the cart facing forward on the trailer.
I have a buddy that claims to have lost two windshields by not folding them down but I "Think" he has EZGO carts and I don't know how he hauled them.

I always remove mine also, better mpg and like Stevegrmich said why tempt fate. It only takes so little time to remove. To each his own!!!!!

Myself and 2 other friends who trailer our carts have had all 3 of our windshield broke, cracked etc. My last one was just cracked at the top half so I cut it off at the hinge. The next replacement I get will never be on the cart if I'm trailering it.

I've lost a windshield doing about 60 mph. And I've traveled with a cart on the trailer doing about 60 without any problems. Shouldn't be a problem. But I sure wouldn't be pushing it by doing much faster.
