Default 1997 Electric CC issues

I am having some issues with an 97 Electric CC. The cc T875 batteries are brand new and the charger wont go on, it just clicks. I checked the volts with a separate voltage meter and reg. 8.5 for all of them before I started to drive it. It was suggested by the battery man that I drive it first and then see if the charger will come on. No, still it just clicks.

Everything was working until last Fall. We had been away on missionary work and the CC was used by helpers and they ran it to death, not checking the water level in the batteries. So we unhooked the batteries and parked it for the winter and just now got the new batteries as I mentioned.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also I would like to get the horn working which never has.
I can take photos of the cart assembly for "show and tell," I am not a mechanic but I don't mind trying.

I see the manual for the Powerdrive Charger was removed, does anyone have a copy that I can have for our charger.

Thanks so much
Sister C. Margaret

If you are able, take charger and plug it into another cart to see if it turns on . . this will either prove a charger problem or cart problem . . . that is where I would start . . .

See if you can check the charger to battery connection.

Does the charger give a small click a few seconds after you plug it in?
This click verifies the charger is connected to and recognizes the battery pack. It also verifies you cave the charger wires connected properly to the battery pack.
Do not drive the cart any more before charging.

Thank you, I guess we will drive our charger over to the course near us and see if it works for them.
Why shouldn't I drive the cart?
One suggestion was: the batteries are charged and so the charger is not going to go on. My battery condition light doesn't work either it use to when we got it a few years back. Should I worry about getting that fix?
Thank you both for you time.

If you can't charge it, don't drive it so you do not take batteries down too low . . reducing pack voltage below 38v will also not allow charger to turn on . . let us know when you have charger tested . . . which battery condition light are you talking about? . . . typically, the battery light on dash, when illuminated, indicates a problem with system . . .

Here is a copy of the individual parts list for your cart:

1997 CC DS Parts List

look over the diagrams starting on page 12-4 and see which matches your cart . . they are simple wiring diagrams that may help you trace down the connections in your cart making sure everything is connected properly . . .

ok so the cart works but the charger is the issue? when it clicks does the ampmeter needle go up and then back to 0 or is it just a click and no gage needle movement? if needle goes up i would look at diodes in chager but if its just a click its a possible OBC issue and yes for some reason they go bad while just sitting.........if your charger works on another cart its almost certain the OBC went out.........................................

Thank you both. Two sisters are driving over to the golf course with the charger as I write. I will let you know the outcome.

Could be the plug in the charger is plugged to. Test it with a lamp or something. I had that problem when I first got my cart and found the ground fault had tripped on the plug in.
