48v V glide club car runs slowly. Please help.
Hello. I have a 1999 DS 48v that has a f/r switch and 2 solenoids. The solenoid on the driver side has a large coil resistor. It is running very slowly. The voltage seems high. Four of the batteries are at 9.6v and 2 are at 9.7v. The pack voltage is 58.3. I tried to load test it by brake torquing it, and the voltage did not drop very much. I did not record the voltage drop. I did smell something burning when I did that. It may have been the coil. It has a v-glide that I removed and it appears to be making good contact, and nothing looks burned. Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like a regen1 cart?

ScottyB, your volt meters are for 36 or 48 correct?

These carts are hard to fix, they only made them for 1 or 2 years and they are misunderstood. However the controller out put should be measured the same as any other controller. Test leads on B- and M- . Step on the peddle you should initially get a full battery pack voltage reading and then it should decrease to 0 as the peddle is depressed.
The regen resistor coil is eliminated with some of the upgrade controllers like GE/FSIP. I would go that route if it needs to be replaced. They are available in 300 & 500 amp models |

it sounds like your reagan solenoid isn,t working........its just a 48 volt solenoid with a resistor coil on top so you can try replacing the solenoid see if that cures it.............................................

It has full pack voltage on all 4 terminals on the solenoid on the passenger side without even pushing the throttle. which doesn't seem right to me. |

the reagan solenoid is the one with the resistor coil mounted on top.......your main solenoid won,t have that coil..........................................

The coil gets hot. Does that tell you anything?
