Need help with my 92 club car 36v

MY 36v 92 Club car wont run. I first replaced the Curtis controller and have 36v from the output of the controller without being connected to the motor. It still wont run- the solenoid just clicks. When it's hooked to the motor I get a stedy declining voltage on the all motor leads and it even remains after I disconnect the main battery terminal. THe back side of the solenoid even has some remaining voltage at eventually goes to zero. Does this mean the motor is bad? Can the motor be rebuilt?
Please help I am really frustrated after wasting money on the controller.

Dave........ A couple of things to try.

1> Turn the key on, pres the accelerator down some and Wiggle the F/R handle and see if the cart tries to move. Do it in Forward and reverse. If it moves the F/R switch needs to be repaired. Check the contacts and grind and smooth them down good.

2> With key on and accelerator pressed enough to keep the solenoid actuated, jumper across the 2 large posts on the solenoid with a battery cable. No need to bolt it on just touch it to the post. If it sparks a little, and the cart tries to move, you have a bad solenoid, replace it.

The voltage you mentioned going dow slowly is probably bleed-off from the controller.

you can get your motor rebuilt. EMPINC.COM they rebuild your motor for $250. you can also have them make it a 2 speed motor. torque and speed. i had them do mine, i have a 92 club car with a 6 inch lift and 22 inch mud tires. my cart will do 16 mph in torque and 20-22 in speed mode. check them out chuck is the owner and he is a great guy.

Before you pull the motor, search the site for how to test it. I can't remember exactly how but it basically using a jumper on a couple of motor poles and putting voltage to the other two. You need to jack up the rear end, but no need to remove motor for test.

Try jumping the solenoid. Use jumper wire between the two large poles. Just because solenoid clicks does not mean its engaging.

Thanks, I tried that. I even replaced it yesterday.
I'm now thinking that maybe I have another bad controller. It was used but I was told it worked fine. Does anyone know how to determine if the controller is bad? Does the controller out put current (amps) to vary speed? Or is it varing voltage?
