Default Procedure for connecting charger

When I bought my club car 6 years ago I was told to plug the charger into the car and then plug the charger into an electrical outlet. It worked okay.

Then one of the service techs that worked on the cart said that I should actually plug the charger into the electrical outlet first and then plug the charger cable into the cart. That seemed to work also.

Another tech said that it doesn't matter.

The circuit breaker now trips and the charging cycle isn't completing. Can this be because of my procedure for plugging it into the cart? I believe that the switch next to the words 20 amp is the circuit breaker as it flips out and you can see the top of switch exposed and the color is white.

Sounds like your charger may have a shorted diode, or you may have a shorted cell in one of the batteries. How you plug it in makes no difference. The charger is designed to sit on a rack with the ac cord plugged in, and when you insert the dc cord into the cart there is a time delay to allow the charger to sense the battery pack voltage and to prevent arcs in the receptacle. You did nothing to cause the breaker to trip. It's usually one of the two things I listed.
