Default Controller question??

Can I use any kind of controller for my resistor cart conversion? A friend has a extra Curtis 450a controller I can get for $50. All I would need then is a pot box correct?

it needs to be a series controller and the voltage needs to match. ie: 36V or 48V

This one says 1209B-5502 and says 24-36V. I just found one on Ebay but no info with it as to what it is for.

You need a throttle input device and a controller that is matched to it that also matches, as someone mentioned, the drive system in your cart. So the answer is no. You can not use any old controller. There is more than one option that would work, but you can't grab parts willie nillie and put them in there. Some controllers can not communicate with a pot box & there are different outputs from different potentiometers.
It would help us answer the question more accurately if you gave the year of your cart and the model # of the controller and any application info you have, like the yr and model cart it came off of.

The year is the problem...It is a 1975 Club Car Caroche. I havent got it running yet but want to convert it soon to controler. I just need to purchase the kit from you and be good to go. How much is the kit? I guess I just need the pot box and controler? I just made my 2/0 cables and had the motor built. I am gonna stay 36v just wanna hit the 20mph mark and get the effenciy (sp) of the controler.
