Default Cart will only move while charger is plugged in.

Ok so here is my nightmare. I have an older model club car (36V) It will only move forward or reverse while plugged into the charger. Once unplugged it will not move. Per multimeter readings I have 36V at plug end of charger and 12V for each set of batteries totaling 36V as it should be. When I press pedal I can hear the solenoid click. Need some help to get problem figured out.

I would check all your connections and load-test the batteries,Sounds like you may have a bad Battery. It has 36volts with the charger,so its' probably dropping off when its' on its' own without the charger.Hope this helps.

Considering i am new to all this I just read a 6v battery should be reading higher than 6v on meter. Basically states if battery reads 6v it is toast and beyond charging.... Can someone tell me if this is true?

if your battery pack is at 36 volts cart is just about dead and won,t move so thats where you need to start..........load test every battery and check cells with hydrometer go from there..........what brand are they and how old?................................

That's what I have assumed from what I have read. Cart has cheaper batteries and they are pretty old. I am going to get new ones to be on safe side but also plan to test the obc prior to hooking them up. Figured it can't hurt to make sure it is working right.

its a 36 volt cart so it won,t have an OBC only 95 and newer 48 volt carts have OBC and 95 was the 1st year for a 48 volt cart......so don,t waste any time looking for an OBC it won,t be there.....................................

A friend of mine is having the same problem with his older 36v cart. Any ideas?

Everybody needs to start at the "beginning" at the batteries... If the battery are not up to snuff your not going anywhere nor are you even spinning your wheels... Have your friend check overall pack voltage as well as per battery voltage. How is the water level in the battery; are the plates exposed etc?

Purchased new batteries today. Batteries were bad when it was given to him. He took a picture and installed the new ones accordingly. He says it will move forward and backwards when plugged in, but nothing when un plugged. I wouldn't think that the batteries would be dead coming from the store. I'll have him check the voltage.
