Default Key Switch No Longer Needed!?!

It appears that my cart no longer requires a key, or to have the switch be in the ON position any longer to run. In fact, my lights connected thru a 48-12 reducer, which is key switch activated, are also staying on. So the reducer is also staying energized. I set the tow/run to tow and disassembled the dash panel to check connections, all appeared to be in order.

I am thinking the switch has gone bad. Is that the general consensus here, or should I exclude some other possibilities first?

check with a meter.

you might be able to rebuild vs replace. disassemble, clean, re-lube, re-assemble.

SJ, THanks for the quick response. To check voltage from the output side of the switch (Blue Wire) I think I should connect that with the red + side of the meter but not sure what to connect the black - side of the meter to. Can I just connect black - to any ground wire?

I assume that if I see 48 volts on that, the switch is toast.

Tested blue wire to ground on battery pack, with switch OFF. Got same voltage as tested from positive to ground on battery pack. Same voltage either side of switch, in fact. It would appear conclusive - bad switch. $25 part, so no big deal.
