Default 1995 Club Car DS Series throttle type?

I'm about to help a friend upgrade his cart and need to know what throttle type his cart has. I'm an EZGO guy so I have no idea. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume you are talking about the 48V Powerdrive system? If so it is a multi-step potentiometer. It vaies from 0 (at rest) to about 5000 ohms. Anything over about 4600 ohms is full speed.

The 36V is quite obvious and uses a wiper switch system (V-glide) connected to a resistor coil.

Does that help?

Actually, 1995 was the first year CC used a true potetiometer throttle input device. it is mounted under the floor on the drivers side of the cart. A very poor location for a potentiometer. The signal out put used was 0-5k. This unit is no longer available. If you are having trouble with it, there is an MCOR conversion available. I hope this helps.

Strange - that's not what I remember. But after I look it up I see for 95-96 there are TWO different options. From the service manual:

Multi-step Potentiometer (Wiper Switch) Models:The speed control circuit consists of the multi-step potentiometer with discrete resistors. With the car in forward, the potentiometer resistance varies from 0 ohms with the accelerator pedal up (at rest position) to approximately 4940 ohms with pedal fully depressed (for full-speed operation, resistance must be above4600 ohms and below 7000 ohms). When the vehicle is put into reverse, a limit switch is engaged that brings an additional resistor into the circuit at the F&R limit switch No. 3. This reduces vehicle top speed in reverse to approximately half of forward top speed.

Continuously Variable Potentiometer Models:
The speed control circuit consists of a solid state three-wire potentiometer. With the car in forward, the potentiometer resistance varies from approximately 0 to 300 ohms with the accelerator pedal up (at rest position) to approximately 5500 ohms with pedal fully depressed (for full-speed operation, resistance must be above 4600 ohms and below 7000 ohms). When the vehicle is put into reverse, a limit switch is engaged that brings an additional resistor into the circuit at the F&R limit switch No. 3. This reduces vehicle top speed in reverse to half of forward top speed.

Is that what you remember (or KNOW) Scottyb

So if he were to order another controller are they different for those 2 types of throttle inputs?

I think you need to look and see which throttle device you have.

Ok, I will let him know. He is in Houston which is 4 hour drive from me so I can't look at it. I just told him if he would get all the parts together I would drive down and help him one weekend. Thanks for all the help.

The 0-5k pot was the only one mounted under the floor on the drivers side, it is gray in color.
The controller has to match or be programmed to match your throttle in put signal.

Mich, I can't recall if I have seen a 95 with a V-glide, it's possible they exist and I just haven't seen one.
