Post Power drive 2 problems

Hi I have a 97 CC. works perfect. Last night I went to plug the charger up and when i did i heard a loud sizzle in the charger. and then smelled a burning smell. I unplugged it and left overnight. I tried this morning and all it does is trip the front breaker when I plug to the cart. What could this be ?
Model # 22110
Seriel # 0202
48V
Can it be fixed or should I get NEW CHARGER?

Sounds like a shorted diode(s). They are easy to test. Make sure the power and the dc cord are unplugged! If you have a continuity tester check them one direction then switch the leads on the tester. They should pass current one direction, but not the other. It could also be the capacitor, but they are usually pretty trouble free. BE CAREFUL! The capacitor stores high voltage!!! You can discharge it with a standard incandescent 120V light bulb. Hold the light bulb's contacts across the capacitors contacts for at least 10secs.
Both these parts are quite reasonably priced and available from several of the sponsors here on the site! :)

Ok. when i tested the continuity on all 4 posts I got nothing at all. so i took the leads off the circuit breaker and bipassed them together. I SLOWELY put power to the cart. i immedietly saw smoke coming for the rectifier/diode. is that telling me that the diode is bad.
