New to me 99 cc a few probs

Hello, I am new to the golf car seen, I bought a 99 club car 48 volt that has the back seat and the roof over it. First problem, at first I did not notice but the pedal seems to have a dead spot it it at about 1/4-1/2 pedal? second problem is that the lights are very dim I am not sure if it has the wrong bulbs or what, but are very dim. the batteries are supose to be 8 months old and the charger seems to work properly. any suggestions would be helpful. thank you

welcome! Sorry you have problems already.

How many times have you ran it and then recharged it? Does a charge last a very long time?

You might have a dead spot in your pedal from a bad connection on the pedal or a bad pedal resistor. Are you comfortable using a ohm meter?

We have had it a couple of weeks, it has not ever died completly but I have charged it 3-4 times. I have an ohm meter but not sure what setting to adjust it to. I will give anything a try. Thanks,Will. Ps how long do you leave it on to charge?

Dim headlights are probably due to them being connected to a single 8v battery. You could add a 48v-12v reducer/convertor and provide the lights with 12v . . .

Yes that is how they are hooked up,where can I get this reducer/converter? and is it normal to hear the batteries boiling while charging. Thanks

. . check site sponsors for voltage reducer, should be able to get one for under $100 . . . gassing/boiling sounds from batteries would be normal, especially towards end of charging cycle . . .

Download this supplement manual go to section 12 I think you have a multi step potentiometer. section 11 has some test procedures. Hope this helps.

The batteries are not boiling, although it does sound like it. They are gassing. The gas released is hydrogen, it's very explosive. Be careful working around the cart when it is charging.
And for charging let the charger finish and shut off on it's own.
