09 Club Car Precedent - Need to go faster
Hello, I just purchased a 09 Club car precedent. It clocks at about 16mph. I have 22 inch wheels and 6 inch lift. I would like to speed it up but have two different people telling me two different options. What is the best way to go?
Option 1. Speed code (chip) should get me to 19mph. High speed motor gets me to 26mph. Cost of 600.00 Option 2. Speed code (chip) gets me to 19mph, add high speed gear set. Gets me to 28 mph. Cost of 750.00 Any suggestions on which way is the best way to go? Thanks |

Re: 09 Club Car Precedent - Need to go faster
I have an 08 Precedent that I could only get 16 mph out of until i got lucky. My buddy bought some of the high speed magnets of off eBay but it would not work in my cart as they only work with ADC motors. Basically we took off the passenger side tire, took off the cap to the motor, and used a pair of pliers to pull out the magnet. When we realized I did not have an ADC motor and the new magnet wouldn't fit, we put the old magnet back in. I am not sure why but by doing this the Regen breaking was disabled and now I'm getting speeds of 20 plus. I used the gps the other night and was going 24 mph down a slight hill. On a side note, my buddies cart did have an ADC motor and the magnet worked flawlessly. He is getting the same speeds as me. It takes 5 minutes to put in and can be bought on eBay for around $50. Or you might get lucky like I did and it won't cost you anything.

Re: 09 Club Car Precedent - Need to go faster
Stay away from the gearset on the Precedent unless you're on flat terrain. All the extra work the motor has to deal with will generate extra heat. The IQ systems do not like extra heat. A series conversion or a motor/controller upgrade is what you want if you're running hi speed gears
