Right, I'm in the same boat. Most importantly, when the batteries are good, the cart goes and does what I want it to and then some. If I was coming up short and the conversion would help, doing it when it's time for new batteries would make sense. But, since the kit has such a significant cost, and I highly doubt I'll keep the cart another 5 years, I'd rather just put the money towards a new set of batteries, take care of them properly, and just enjoy the cart another couple of years and then move on to something newer.

I have a precedent as well and have seen a decline in the run time of my cart too. I have been considering the 6-8v for quite some time now and someone shared this with me:
Almost free 12v-8v Precedent conversion
So i figured I would pass it along since although it would take some time to do, it saves $$$$ and gives much improved run time...hope this helps!

According to an article on the "Electric Cars Are for Girls2" web page, the owner of a large golf cart leasing company in Seattle,WA uses U.S. Batteries and Interstate batteries, which are made by U.S., in his fleet of leased carts. Finds their service is equal to any other batteries.
