Default Precedent Club Car

We have 2008 Club Car and Power Drive II charger. The batteries are bubbling before the charger shuts down. Any suggestions?

Need more info. What year are the batteries? 12v or 8v? Are they literally bubbling over or do you just hear a girgling/bubbling sound? For starters you should test each battery. You probably have one or more weak ones and they are causing the others to overcharge because they take too long to charge themselves.

All batteries are new in Sept. 2011. They are 48 volt. Minor seepage out of the fill holes.

48v really? Shocker. I meant do you have 8v batteries? Doesnt matter. You need to check them one by one.

What you are describing is considered "normal" in the last phase of a charge cycle as charger attempts to equalize battery pack . . . if you put a meter on the pack during this phase, you would see voltage of 60+ volts . . . the bubbling is actually hydrogen gas being released . . .

Yep, totally normal as Steve said. Bubbling is a good thing.

Sorry about the volts. That is the charger volts. It was seeping out of fill holes just a tiny bit. The charger was very hot to the touch so I put a small fan blowing on it and that cooled the charger off. I guess that is another question I will post. The batteries are actually 12volt. Thank you for all your help. I hope I don't have too many more questons! Thanks again everyone.
