Step for Lifted Cart
I have a 91 year old mother that couldn't manage even the minimum (3inch) lift kit on my CC DS. The floor is now16 inches off the ground (with 20 inch tires). So I decided to put a retractable step on the buggy. I got a single pull out step for an RV or camper trailer and fashioned simple adapter plates out of 1/4 inch aluminium bar from the hardware store. Bolted the adapters to the frame, then the step to the adapter bars and now she hops on up there. First step is 9 inches from the ground, second step, 7 inches to the floor of the cart. See pictures.
I chose the RV step because it is power coated for that dirty area under the cart, designed to handle the bouncing of a vehicle without popping out, is strong, can handle 300 lbs, is readily available on the net and inexpensive ($60). Thanks... |
