Retarded brakes
On my CC DS, I have a bit of a braking problem. When I get on my cart, especially after it has been sitting for several hours, when I push the brake pedal down my drivers side rear tire wants to grab or lock up. It feels like there is a high spot in it that I can feel in the pedal. I can put in reverse at high speed then put on the brakes a few times and it seems to smooth it out for a good while. I pulled the wheel off and the drum doesnt seem to be warped. I dont have any calipers to check it for perfect roundness. I rolled the drum on the patio and really couldnt see that it is out of round. With the drum still off I worked the brake and only one pad moves( rearward pad). Is that normal. I know its not chinese algebra but does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Retarded brakes
Your shoes and drums are probably "Glazed"...
Get some 100 grit Emory cloth,(or sand paper for metal) and scuff up the shoes and drums really well to remove the glazing, reinstall and test drive! (I wish I would have known this 3 years ago, before I spent $50.00 on a set of shoes when I didn't need them!) |

Re: Retarded brakes
I will give that a try when I get home. I just got to work and I got another 28 days before I get to see that cart again. I did notice that the wear pattern on the pad was not really even. Still had enough pad left but it wasnt worn evenly. Is only the rear pad supposed to move out against the drum when the pedal is pressed? I thought that both pads should move. Guess I should have taken the time to pull the other side and inspect it too. Thanks for the tip.
