Default 34? 35? ,,,,,,38!!!!

after installing the 6:1 rear end gears i of course lost all the low end tourque. i got an alltrax dcx500 and walla,,,, low end tourque is back. Cart was running 34 tops with that settup and 4 AWG wires.

Tonight i switched to 2 gauge wire and silver soldered the connections, went for a cruise out front of my house pretty flat and ran 35 then 36, and topped out at 38MPH. may be time for front disc brakes , lol. pictures are a little shaky going that fast but you can see it was GPS at 35 and 38mph. cart safe. paul.
my settup. 2008 precedent, dcx500 controller, 6:1 rear gears, stock motor and 20" tall tires

wow that's impressive. Did you really get that much torque back from the controller?

Aren’t those 6:1 gears nice… With some additional tweaking, you will go faster…

yep, the stock controller only allows 275 amps and the dcx500 allows 500 thru it. it made all the difference

My DS was a “97”, with the newer carts I am not sure if you can do much more. My 36V motor made a huge difference in the speed on a 48V cart, but I am not sure you can do this with newer models. If it is outside my “97” realm, I am back to square one. Alignment of the front end to have the tires “roll together” instead of pushing against each other, the disk brake calipers (4 wheel) were not allowing rotors to roll freely, we re-bleed them prior to final “speed” check, they were rolling freely without “rubbing” and better aligned the rear end to the front, we had “dog leg tracking”… once it was properly aligned it was easier to “hand” roll… we figured these adjustments assisted in the increase in speed. Finally, if it wasn’t required it was removed, going to re-weigh the LSV this afternoon prior to donating, for we have to figure out the shipping cost to Wisconsin, I know it is several lbs lighter than a stock DS. Finally, we installed 255/50R-10’s (22-11-10) on the rear, they fit very nicely on a non lifted cart with heavy duty rear springs, gave it a “tubbed” look.

Four wheel brakes are highly encouraged, our carts are small, but at the higher speeds, we still need room to stop with only rear brakes, almost took someone out the afternoon prior to brakes install. With electric carts they don’t hear us coming and sometimes people fail to look both ways before walking out into the street.
