Default 1987 already converted to 48 volt questions

Hi,
New to golf cars and need some answers. I bought a 1987 Club car with 6-8 volt batteries in it. He said it ran 3 yrs ago and the batteries are old and no good. The battery wires are unhooked and/or missing so I need help wiring. It came with a 48 volt charger and I looked at the motor and it is 48 volt. I have looked at several different wiring diagrams from different yrs but I guess I need help figuing out how it was converted? What should I be looking for to tell me?

Thanks

makes no sense why they put a 48 volt in a 36 volt cart thats a waste.......are you sure its an 87? i didn,t think the splines would have lined up to get that motor in unless they put a whole rearend in it......but even at 48 volts you want to leave the 36 volt motor in it .............gives you more speed and torque.................have you looked at the stickies to see if theres awiring diagram in uit for that year?.....................anyway to wire a 48 volt set of batteries find the battery that has the pos cable going to solenoid that will be #1 you know what theres no real way to explaine this as i have no clue how he set batteries in ...............can you take any pics?............
