takes off in gear when you turn key on

have a 81 ds. kids played with it while i was gone for a week. now if you have it in gear when you turn the key on ,it takes off with out touching the petal. also speed coils are getting very hot, hotter than normal.looks like back of f&r switch has gotten hot also. any help as where to start

yeah 1 or more of your speed solenoids is stuck on or welded......they are the ones with the coils on them so it might be time to just change all of them.................not a good thing to happen with kids i,m glad no one got hurt...........................

Your cart has had a meltdown. No one problem causes the situation you describe. Multiple problems exist and you will need to carefully go through the speed selector system and F&R and cables to resolve all the problems.

Consider a solid state conversion to modern electronics as a timely option right about now.....

Tell the wife, Honey, it's more cost effective to upgrade than repair the old system ....

I have a working set of solenoids with resistor coils and an F/R switch that I took off a running cart I will sell you for $200.00.

Mine was just doing that also. 1981 CC. It's the first solenoid on the drivers side. Change it and all should be fine. You can get them off Fleabay for $25 shipped.
