Battery Smell
Hi, My parents have a 2003 (or 2004 not sure) Club car 2 passenger electric. They just had the batteries replaced. They are complaining that the batteries smell a lot when they are charging them. They smell a lot more that before. They have replaced batteries in the other club car and had no issues.
I am visiting them at the end of the month and want to troubleshoot it. Things I will check: 1. Amount of water in the batteries 2. Any rust on the battery connectors I am thinking I should buy a set of either 4g or 6g replacement battery cables and swap them. Any feedback is appreciated. I am looking for advice and if I should buy a set of cables (where to get them and what gauge if beyond 6g). Thanks in advance. |

I have a smell every once in a while but nothing too bad. I overfilled them once and it did produce a worse smell. I pulled some of the water out and it hasn't happened since.

Re: Battery Smell
Thanks for the update. Now the other symptom is that the battery gauge on the cart stays in the red. The battery charger works and the cart runs. The gauge doesn't seem to respond. When I go down there can it be easily pulled out and the contacts cleaned or should I do something else? (I'm pretty handy)
