How should I charge my 2 SLA's for my stereo?
So I have (2) 35ah SLA batteries wired in parallel giving me 12v and 70ah capacity. I got them new and cheap and they both fit perfect in the passenger cubbie of my 2003 DS dash! (I didnt want an extra battery in the bag well)
Problem is how should i charge them? I have a charger that has 2 settings, 2 amp and 10 amp charge options. So i played it safe and am charing them at 2 amps. I hooked the charger up to POS of one battery and NEG on the other battery. This should work right? Both batteries are new and read same voltage. So charge at 10 amps or 2 amps and for how long approximately (liked if they were almost drained)? Thanks! |

If it doesn't have an automatic shut off, just keep as eye on the charge meter. When the meter shows only a slight amount of power going into the batteries, you should be OK to run them. I can't tell you how long to charge them as I honestly would only be guessing if I did. As far as 2 V/S 10 Amps, some people like to fast charge but I've been a personal fan of slow charging batteries for a while. The batteries tend to last longer when slow charged in my opinion. Hope this helps, -Scott H. |

Re: How should I charge my 2 SLA's for my stereo?
ok thanks Scott!
My Charger is a Diehard DH-10MA - I know it has a manual and auto cycle, doesnt say which one is which though. I would imagine the 2am is for trickle and is manual and must be turned off but the 10amp is most likely the auto setting so it shoudl turn off on its own i guess. |

Do you still have the owner's manual? It should say in there how to get the Auto setting to work. -Scott H. |

Sealed batteries in a thin black plastic case? I would stick to the 2 amp setting. The 10 amp setting may generate some heat on the plates which leads to case distortion.
