So, what is the concern if I got to 4x12 instaed of 6x8's. Do I loose anything?

Got my conversion done this past weekend and all went great thanks to the write up. Now I just need to find what the low end voltage of a 8v battery is so I can do my battery break in correctly. I do know 8.6v is fully charged.

Not sure where you got that info that a fully charged 8 volt battery is 8.6 but that is wrong. A fully charged 8 volt battery after a full charge and has been at rest for 12 hours will read 8.49. New battery break in, you should not run the batteries below 75% fully charge for the first 20 or 30 charges, on a 8 volt battery 75% charged is around 8.28

Glad you cleared that up for me I was wandering why I wasn't reading that high after a full charge. Thanks for the data

How to add 48 to 12 volt converter to existing lighting and horn?

Rather than cut up the battery tray, can you just place a solid piece of HDPe (king starboard) and get a flat surface?

This question is basically for ScottyB but I think it could benefit anybody who reads this sticky.

So I am considering changing my 4x12 cart to a 6x8 cart but since my current batteries are still fine I won't be changing them for a while. That being said. If I was to purchase an after market speed controller (Alltrax XCT 400) would it matter if my cart is 4x12 and someday converts over to a 6x8 cart? I ask this question because on ScottyB's website it specifically asks if your cart is a 4x12 cart of if it is a 6x8 cart.

Would there be any other upgrades that would not work if the cart was switched over? The only one I know of is if I upgrade the cables but even then the cables could potentially still be used. They could be shortened to fit the new configuration and a couple of new cables would needed to be added.

Yea you need to add a couple cables and the lengths of the rest may need adjusting. I would just do the controller and solenoid conversion and do the cables later, that way you can get the right ones first off. You may loose a little performance until then but not enough to worry about. As far as the 4, 12s or 6 8's 48 volts is 48 volts so everything else doesn't care how many batteries you have.
