Default Unable to pull Drum

I am trying to pull the drum off on my 1996 48v DS. The cart electrical is disconnected, no motor. Do I need to disconnect the brake cable?

noope...the only thing holding the brake drums on are the studs and the axle...simply take off tire and pull off drum.

It is very typical for the self adjusters to to wear the shoe deep into the drum. When this happens you can have just a hell of a time getting the drum off as there is no access to the adjuster with the drum on. If this happens look for the brake shoe retainer studs on the backside of the backing plate. remove the head and the shoes should fold, allowing the drum to come off.

. . .

. . . one at 3 o'clock and one at 9 o'clock . . . just cut/grind the heads off . . they are spring loaded (springs and retainers on inside) . .
