Precedent rear suspension with seat kit?
Hey Guys
We have a customer who purchased a 2007 Precedent (not from us) with a rear seat kit on it and he has now contacted us with regards to upgrading his rear suspension as he is carrying some heavier people and cargo. With that being said we have sold many carts which we have installed rear seats on and have not had to upgrade the rear suspension. We have done a fair bit of reading on this topic and found that most people find the HD rear suspension to be to stiff, so they are removing leafs etc... This is certainly an option we can do, however I was wondering if anyone has taken two factory rear leaf springs (so a total of 2 leafs per side) and combined them to make one HD leaf package. We were thinking this might be a good alternative, by taking and cutting off the mounting eyes at each end of the secondary springs and then sandwiching them together to make the one HD spring package. This would be more work then replacing the factory springs with two new HD spring packs, however we are more concerned about ensuring the customer has a beefier suspension while still allowing him to have a good ride. That`s why we have come up with this idea. Looking forward to your responses. Holomis Staff |

Re: Precedent rear suspension with seat kit?
I think whatever you do to beef up a leaf spring suspension is going to make for a stiffer ride. With that type of suspension, it is one of those things that you just cant have both ways. An airbag approach where you just inflate if/when you need to carry more weight would be cool.
I opted not to upgrade my springs and havent had any issues. But usually when there are four people in my cart, two of them are kids. |

I am thinking the single modified factory leaf might just do the trick for this one. Thanks again for your input! |
