81 CC issues
My friend recently purchased an 81 DS to restore. Here's where we got stumped. With brand new batteries and cables, the cart wouldn't go. With a volt meter we started tracing and found that we were not getting voltage readings past the first solenoid. by accident, we found that if we disconnected the solenoid without coils that hooks directly to the motor, from the motor, all 5 click and we can get voltage readings on all. As soon as we hook the motor back up, the voltage drops to 0. We also tried bypassing all solenoids and hooking straight to the motor with the same result. I'm a gasser guy and don't have any experience with the electric carts. Any ideas?

Re: 81 CC issues
have you tried to jump the main solenoid? the ne without resistor coil......the other 4 are speeds.....if you haven,t try jumping large post on main and see if cart runs.........use a peice of 6 gage cable or a wrench......just like you would with an old ford truck.....................................

Re: 81 CC issues
ok then go to the silver box with red end caps on frame rail by left front batteries in there are 5 microswitches and the plastic slider........1 of those activates solenoid so between there and small wires running to solenoid you might find your problem................................

Re: 81 CC issues
we took the silver box of and manually activated each microswitch and they all seemed to do their job activating each solenoid.

Re: 81 CC issues
I was thinking maybe a short as well since the voltage drops as soon as you hook up the motor. Hey, I'll know as much about the electrics when this is all said and done. ;)
