Default Extra Large Key for Club Car

Hi,

Just bought a 2009 Club Car Precedent. My problem is my manual dexterity has gone downhill recently. It is difficult for me to grasp, insert and turn the little T-shaped standard key.\

Before I go off and create a solutioln, I thought maybe someone had already solved the problem. Maybe a source for a larger key, a key holder, or a DIY solution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks...Lampooner

Actually... There is!!! (kinda' sorta')

Being a locksmith, and not wanting to spend $3.00 for an extra key at the CC dealer that's 40 miles away,
I found that a few Honda and Yamaha motorcycle keys fit the CC key switch!

The one I used was an ILCO (the key blank brand name) X138 / HD75

Now... a good hardware store that cuts a lot of keys, or a locksmith should have this key blank,
and, the Honda key is just a tad shorter from the tip to the shoulder stop,
(a GOOD locksmith will cut the shoulder stop back)
BUT... it really doesn't matter, because Club Car key switches only have 1 tumbler! (at the one and only cut)
As long as they cut it using the shoulder stop, you should be good to go!

Post away Scotty! I, for one would like to hear about it!

BTW... most keys are brass, with a nickel silver coating!

We had a customer in the auto shop I used to work at that had partial paralysis on his right side. He had his ignition key in a plastic holder that gave him more leverage. The key was sandwiched in between two pieces that were shaped to fit the palm of his hand well. I would check with mobility stores and handicap vehicle upfitters for solutions.

But I think it would also be fairly easy to make something.

My '86 Club Car came with the larger key when I bought it. It looks like a replacement key though.

The numbers on it are: 6-161A C.C.

Hope this helps,
