Motor and controller upgrade
Looking for the best place to start to make an 03 series Club Car Turf1 go faster.
Looking for flatline top speed for cruising the streets. I have determined it is a series cart, stock 3.1 HP motor, curtis 300 amp controller. I got a little overwhelmed with the options out there, trying to determine the most cost effective way of going at it. Not sure if I have to spend $500 on a motor and $500+ on a controller. Any help is appreciated. |

Welcome to the forum veee8.......................
Yep..... Motor, controller and larger tires will do it. Of course with tires, you'll need a lift kit. More speed does not come cheap. |

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
Cheapest way I know is EMP motor rebuild. You can get in the low 20's for $3-400. You don't have to replace controller. Taller tires will give you a little more top end.

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
The EMP motor is a no brainer for a cost effective way to increase speed from stock. However, to get your 25mph, you will want to bone up and get a 500amp+ contoller and speed motor. I've learned alot, minimal $$ means minimal change, bite the bullet and you will not be dissapointed. For about $1000, you can upgrade controller, motor, cables, solenoid, and f/r switch...best $$ I've spent on my cart!

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
OK, I am trying to do this from a supplier we already deal with. Looking at GE motors, they have several different controllers available. Alltrax, GE, Curtis etc...
So a 4 ga. cable upgrade? What should I look for with the solenoid and f/r switch for the high speed upgrade? Thanks for the suggestions, just trying to narrow down the best parts I can get with what I have to work with. |

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
On your solenoils you should make sure they have silver contacts as they hold up better. They run almost twice as much but cause less trouble over time. There is a website sells a kit everything in a box for about $1200 this might be the best way 4 you to go.

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
What would it take to convert to the IQ setup? Rough prices on a few things appear to be roughly same price or less for motors and controllers. What all needs to be changed?

Re: Motor and controller upgrade
Looking at the
GE "Bad Boy" motor. Beefed up F&R switch. Alltrax AXE4855 500 amp controller. 4 gauge battery cable kit. What do you guys think? Is this a good package? |
