Default FSIP controller on Precedent, Heat sink?

Hey,

Anyone using an FSIP on their Precedent with 8v batteries? I have my controller mounted where the stock controller mounts.. to the back of the battery box mounted to the aluminum plate that holds the OBC and RUN/TOW switch.

I have noticed that after running my cart at slower speeds in trails or sand, the controller back gets super hot and shuts down.. once the controller cools a bit it runs fine.

Was I supposed to retain the stock heat sink?.. Now, I'm thinking that a heat sink would probably help a lot with moving the heat away from the controller.

I thought about installing a small cpu fan but I think the heat sink would be better.

Batteries are only a year old, 4g welding cables, HD solenoid, and Plum Quick Bandit

Any ideas on how to cool the controller?

I don't have your controller, or cart, but I can tell you that an adequate heatsink is essential! Overheating your controller will substantially shorten its life too! I would contact FSIP and see what they recommend for your controller. Even if you have to mount it differently, you'll be way ahead in performance and dependability! Keeping it as cool as possible is key to long life and dependable performance!

FSIP will insist you install the controller on a heat sink, heat transfer compound is also recommended.
That said, Contact FSIP or the dealer where you bought it, and inquire about the new cooler running maps FSIP has recently developed for some of these controls. Your model may or may not be included.
I recently sent one back to be reprogrammed for a similar complaint in a different cart. Hope this helps.

Looks like I'm just gonna install a heat sink on the opposite side of the aluminum plate.. Heatsinkusa sell custom heat sinks and a thermal adhesive that creates a permanent bond to whatever metal you mount the heat sink too.. Idk, I was gonna mount a 5" x 7" aluminum block to the plate but I would get more surface area with a finned heat sink of the same size with 1" tall fins.. Hopefully it works
