Installed D&D motor on 98 DS

Just wanted to let everyone know my recent experience with installing a D&D motor on my completely stock 98 DS with wiring upgrade. The motor I went with is the D&D 170-011-0002. My wiring setup is something I made here at home. The battery pack is all 2/0 cables and the rest is 1/0. It took some slight work to fit the F&R switch and OBC but it turned out well.

On the stock motor I would see on average 13mph with maybe 14mph downhill. The hills really affected the motor as well slowing way down on the slightest incline. I think the stock motor was next to trashed. So I did some research and ordered up the D&D motor. When I installed the motor I also changed out the fluid in the rear with some Redline Shockproof because I am a believer in synthetics. Plus its kinda cool when your diff fluid is blue haha.

On to the results. Its been two days with the motor and I am highly impressed. My average top speed is now 25-26. It pulls very quick to 22mph and creeps up after that. On a slight downhill I have seen 28mph. The hills don't affect this motor like the stock motor and I reason because I have so many more rpms when climbing a hill. The torque has decreased slightly off the line but increased every where after that. It pulls especially nice in the midrange. I don't think many have used this motor and just thought I would share my results. I think its pretty awesome!

That motor is good for stock size tires with a controller upgrade.

It was $428.xx to my door. A great buy I think!

It is still on the stock controller and does well. I am going to upgrade eventually and have been eyeballing the GE 500 amp controller. Not only is it cost effective but has adjustments as well. Think I would rather use a screwdriver to adjust the throttle settings than software on my simple setup!

Sounds like a good settup (esecially the wiring upgrade). i would for sure get the 500amp controller. th stock one will work but keep in mind it only allows so many amps to go thru it (like around 275 i believe)
got any pictures? would love to see it all together. paul

Uploaded a few quick pictures. I went for a ride earlier and rode about 7 miles with half of that at WOT. When I got back I took a reading on the batteries and they were 50.2 volts. Pretty good I thought for new batteries. They're cheapies but if they perform anything like how heavy they are (71.8lbs) I should be good.
