05 Club Car DS IQ charger will not turn off
Hello everyone. I'm new to writing a thread but have been reading threads for years now. I just bought a 2005 Club Car DS IQ. The guy I purchased the cart from told me he thought it had a bad battery because it would only run for about 30 mins or so. Put cart on charge after I got it home that night, charger kicked on for a few seconds then off then kicked back on to 15 amps +. Came out next morning still on 15 amps.? Went to work then came home at lunch and it still was on 15 amps!?! I unplugged cart. The batteries were hot and sounded like they were bubbling. I tested all the batteries this morning and they are testing 8.4 to 8.5 and across the pack they test 50.05. I got my GPS and took the cart down the street at a max out speed of 11 mph. Came back to check batteries and I was getting 50.01 on the pack. I also reset the OBC. Charger is still jumping to 15 amps +. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. And I'm not sure but it seems like the numbers on the OBC don't match up. The OBC part # 21155-02. Is that the right OBC for a 2005 Club Car DS with IQ? Thank you for any help!

Re: 05 Club Car DS IQ charger will not turn off
i,m not sure but the charger should have slowly went down from 15 amps ......keep in mind it may take 16 hours for charger to shut off but regardless it sgould shut off at 16 hours wether batteries are charged or not, can you get another charger to try and see if you get same results ............all things considered from your post and pack #,s theres a problem in there somewhere, and i would guess its a cart issue not charger.........................................

Re: 05 Club Car DS IQ charger will not turn off
It had been on charge for about 14 hours with no change in the amp meter. I was wondering if it might be the OBC. But I'll try to get another charger and try it. Thanks Shadowman!

Re: 05 Club Car DS IQ charger will not turn off
remember you need to give it 16 hours but the needle should move down from 15 amps to 7 or 8 or lower by like the 10th or 12 hour........................your sure they are all 8 volt batteries in there? count water fill holes....4 = 8 volt and 3 = 6 volt..............................

I'm sure they are 8 volt batteries. Does that part # for the obc sound right? I'm not sure that obc # is for a IQ cart.

Re: 05 Club Car DS IQ charger will not turn off
It might be working now. I reset the obc yesterday and put it on charge last night. After about an hour notice the amp meter had started to come down. This morining it had shut off. I checked the batteries across the pack and it read 50.6. I will keep you posted. Thanks!

Re: 05 Club Car DS IQ charger will not turn off
The OBC has no effect on the ammeter at all. All it's responsible for is the turning on and off of the charger. In fact, you can bypass a charger relay to make the charger turn on and hook it directly up to a battery pack without an OBC and it will act perfectly normal, starting out at a high rate and tapering down to 5 amps or below, all without an OBC at all... It simply won't ever turn off when it's finished. This is why you need the OBC. The problem you were having with the ammeter not coming down is most likely a battery related issue. Keep an eye on them
