Charger Issues! Fried my batteries...
I left my lake house the other weekend and plugged in the carts like normal. 4 days later I stop by when Im in the area and the charger on my wifes cart is buzzing still. Took it out for a cruise and its real slow so i guess the batteries are toast. What can you do to protect from this? Timer at the plug? I didnt charge mine when I left this weekend just because im worried about frying it too! Suggestions please?

Re: Charger Issues! Fried my batteries...
Should be a powerdrive charger. It is designed to shut off after 16 hours not matter if the batteries are fully charged or not. So I am not sure why it did not and not sure if that would be OBC related. I will let someone else chime in on that. Where the batteries low on water? Also, the charger will kick back on if the batteries drop to a certain voltage when the charger is left plugged in. So maybe it did initially shut off after the first charge and then it turned back on because the batteries were low enough.

My guess is there is at least one battery low enough on water to show lead or the batteries are old and need replacing..... based on my experience the ODC controls all timed functions of the charger.
Basically the charger has no brain and the obc is the control board. |

Re: Charger Issues! Fried my batteries...
I agree with Shadowman. I've never seen the MAX TIMER feature not work on a Precedent OBC... It's very common on DS cars but not on Precedents. But that doesn't mean it's not possible. However, the max timer feature shouldn't be necessary if your batteries are good enough to charge up and allow the OBC to turn off the charger normally. How old are your batteries? Original 2008 batteries? 12 Volt or 8 Volt?

Re: Charger Issues! Fried my batteries...
Batteries were just topped off the week before. I do have a 12v plug wired in to a battery that i use a spotlight off of once a month or so and i noticed i had left it plugged in. It wasnt on but theres a power indicator light on the plug maybe that drained it enough to make it kick back on?
