2 carts ...Where to begin?
I picked up 2 carts earlier in the summer that I'd like to restore. Neither had the batteries, but both have speed controllers and motors. If I have read the info right I have 2008 electric IQ 48 Regen and a 2002 DS 48 volt cart.
I have no history on either cart so I don't know why they were scrapped. I'm wondering if I need to take the motor in to have it checked, send of the speed controller? Buy the batteries and give it a shot ?? Just looking for some input. Tks |

Re: 2 carts ...Where to begin?
best thing is to start by putting batteries in and see where your at....make sure all wiring is there who knows maybe they scrapped because they didn,t want to spend 1000 on a set of batteries....................................

Re: 2 carts ...Where to begin?
Thanks Shadow..
WOW..$225 a wack.. Guess that expalins why the guy said " take e'm or their going in the dumpster ". From what I read the deep cycle car battery alternative has mixed reviews. The local cart shop said that if I went with the 225 bats that i'm only looking at about a year of service. Is that correct ? I don't plan on using it daily yet. Just around the neighborhood. Also how long do you get on a full charge? How many miles can you go ? Tks |

Re: 2 carts ...Where to begin?
You can find batteries for under $100. SAMs for example. Batts will last 4 to 7 years, if cared for. You can test the motor by hooking it up to a 12v Just be careful. There is a post about how to do this.
Good luck. |

Re: 2 carts ...Where to begin?
you can also if you want for testing purposes only just use regular 12 volt car batteries just to find out what your up against.....when times comes if your keeping the cart or cart then make certain you buy golfcart batteries.......you don,t have to buy the best if you can,t afford them but you must break them in right and maintain them that way you,ll get every last drop out of them......but for right now some 12 volt car batteries wouldn,t hurt just to see if thats all you need...........................
