It's supposedly operating as a capacitor somehow? Supposed to store extra power and then inject a boost into the system when activated? I really don't know how, but I am told they don't work and they should not be used.
Somebody else will be along soon with more info in the mean time don't use it

Is it a 91 resistor coil cart? I suggest a conversion to modern electronics, then you can do anything you want to it.

Yes on resistor coil. Prolly be getting with you soon on conversion, from what i been reading sounds like convert to 48 volt electronics and leave 36 volt motor?

I favor the 48v conversion for these carts. The 36v motors do well on the increased voltage. You gain about 30-33% more torque and speed right away.

I have actually installed this button before...its called a shunt button and is used to isolate juice in the motor and give you a temporary boost...Its a little tougher on the motor but I install them on upgraded units and haven't had one come back with problems yet...all you need is a horn button and an extra solenoid...And it def works for a min or so

Ouch yeah I only installed these on highly upgraded E-Z Go units that were used only by the guys who could afford huge upgrades...most of the time I would install a hidden half speed switch from the half speed reverse side of the alltrax to function as an half speed for forward for those with kids anyway:)
