Default Seat back support '85 CC

85 Club Car does not have the top anymore. I would like to make a cargo box for the back, but the aluminum support that the top mounted to, is also connected with a bolt to the seat back rest, so while I do not need these brackets for the top, if they were removed would that effect the strenght of the back seat rest that much?

On my old cart I removed the roof and what I did was bolt a metal bar between the two separate seat supports. I got the bar at lowes- it was just a steel strip of metal about 1" wide. It was very sturdy that way.

The way my upper seat brackets mount on both the 1986 and 1997 DS Club Cars equipped with factory cargo boxes are the lower part mounts in the stock location and the middle part of the seat support bracket attaches to the cargo box.

It's hard to see in this picture, but the metal seat braces are welded to the metal cargo box on the '97.

If you look under the seat back, you can see the bolts that connect the aluminum seat bracket to the plastic cargo box on the '86.

When you design your cargo box, would it be possible to design a similar support system? My seat backs on both carts are solid as a rock!

Hope this helps,
