Default Is my controller done

Last year I started having problems. Cart wasn't moving. Replaced the go solenoid and the cart went but the regen would come on at various times while going. I disconnected the regen plug from the motor. Cart worked again. I put the cart away for the winter. In late spring the cart was slow and coming to a stop on hills. I replaced the batteries their was no change. I discovered that the regen solenoid wasn't working. I figured since I wasn't using regen I would jump the solenoid. Cart works fine except no regen. Now I realize that something is draining the batteries. My mickey mouse fixes need to be corrected. I'm thinking I need a new regen solenoid and a controller. Any other thoughts?

Thank you
Bill

The reason you picked up speed when you changed the Dynamic Braking solenoid is because it was stuck in the Open position and wouldn't close. This dissipates all excess power through the resistor when the primary solenoid closes, hence letting less power to your motor. The reason you lost your regen feature is because you unplugged the speed sensor from the motor. The dynamic braking solenoid has zero affect on whether the regen works or not, it just helps to make the motor braking feel a lot less harsh when it's working properly. Once the dynamic braking solenoid is removed you'll still have perfectly good working regenerative braking, only stronger. The 2000.5 cars incorporated a slightly different software in the controllers that allowed for the mild regen feel without the use of a dynamic braking solenoid. As for your vehicle draining the batteries, what you've done with the solenoid has no effect on this. You may want to diagnose your battery pack. I know they're fairly new to you, but bad batteries can discharge themselves while they sit more rapidly than a good battery. You may not have a draw, you may just have a problem with the batteries losing power. When you flip the car into the tow mode and unhook the batteries, is there a spark when you re-attach the wire? If so, you have a draw. If not, you don't.

PS when you changed your solenoid setup you didn't add a pre-charge resistor or diode to the primary solenoid did you? On a Regen1 and Regen2 there is no diode nor resistor present.

WOW! I think I have a man crush now. Thank you TahoeDawg.
1) I replaced the go solenoid because the vehicle stopped moving. There is no diode.
2) I unplugged the speed sensor because after I changed the go solenoid the "roll away feature"was activating just before the vehicle came to a stop. It would beeb and the regen would come on a few feet before I stopped. As if the vehicle was rolling away. This was happening while I was driving the cart at every stop. With the speed sensor unplugged, occasionally the vehicle would not move at all when I pressed the accelerator. I would roll the vehicle back and forth and it would go.
3) Yes, I jumped the Dynamic Braking solenoid because it was remaining open and the Cart was using the resistor as a connection to go. Since I jumped the Dynamic Braking solenoid I have had no problems with it going when I hit the accelerator.
I would like to get this cart back to normal. I'm not fond of the mickey mouse fix.

Thank you
Bill
