IQ or not?
I have a 2006 Precedent. According to the sticky's, It could be IQ, Sepex or excel..... I'm confused.
Bottom line, will a altrax 500 dcx work on my cart.... |

Re: IQ or not?
Go here, this is the best instruction I have seen: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...en-system.html
Mine is an IQ and I just put that controller in my cart with a new motor, works good. Bottom line is that if it is IQ it needs to have the black curtis controller, if it is grey there is no controller replacement out there that I know of. |

Re: IQ or not?
Thanks speed, But if you read this post,
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...nsor-test.html it speaks of there being a excel system. Could that be the grey box you are refering to?? |

Your Precedent is a 2006, which means the Excel system was not in existence when it was built. Therefore it has to be an IQ. Regen1 and Regen2 systems were not used in the Precedent. Only in DS models. As for the alltrax question I have no idea. I'm a dealer tech. No aftermarket knowledge. |

Re: IQ or not?
The first two letters of serial number would be PU for Excel systems in later models also . . .

Re: IQ or not?
I have a DCX500 in my 07 Precedent, so I know it will work with the IQ OBC (Computer). However, there may be issues with over Amperage on the stock motor as I have heard conflicting postings about putting a 500A controller on a stock motor. However, I have also heard of some folks programming the DCX for less than full power to limit the amps going to their stock motors. I am not familiar with this as I have an aftermarket D&D motor. Hope this helps.

Re: IQ or not?
If you get the controller, you might as well get a new motor at the same time from the same vendor so they can program the controller for you. I am not talking about simple throttle adjustments that you can make on your own, I am talking about eprom programming that is often specific to each motor. You can fry a motor and controller if it is not programmed correctly.
