Not all 12" wheels will work on a Precedent without modification because of the offset like you said. There are some 12" wheels that will work out of the box. When you go from a 10" wheel to a 12" wheel the offsets are different between alot of the choices and seem to be more of the same when looking at 10" wheels.

I agree that they have to have the correct offsets or they will rub and stick out of the wheel wells.

Since we are talking about this does anyone know what the factory offsets are for the stock wheels? I would guess they are zero offset.

With a low profile tire there is less sidewall for the same outside diameter. The larger sidewall acts as a shock absorber in no uncertain terms. It helps absorb small bumps and inconsistencies in the road..
So, yes a lower profile tire will ride a little rougher than one with more sidewall. Not sure about the offset though..

Yes, it would be zero or 4x4 like the diagram below.
