Just thought I would post pics of my install of Scotty's meter on my Precedent. Everything went smooth as pie...


The Start.

No wires to run as you can see the factory meter feed two wires behind the dash.

Cut the hole with just a razer blade and no power tools needed.

Took the factory ends off and added eyelets.

The one question I have is the meter reads lower then my handheld meters. The last pick shows 49.5 but my handheld meter reads 50.3 and has a brand new battery in it. I wonder if there is something different about the factory feed versus hooking it up directly to the battery pack. You would think there wouldn't be..

I would suggest using your handheld meter to the leads you pulled from the factory meter to see if it reads battery voltage or the lesser voltage. It would seem to be the same, but that would be a good start to confirm whether Scotty's meter reads same as the handheld.

It's defiantly not the on board meter or my handheld meter. I get the same reading at the meter feeds behind the dash with my handheld. So Scotty's meter and my handheld meter read the same at the feed behind the dash. If I take a reading at the battery pack it reads .6 to .8 higher on my handheld meter then what is shown on the dash meter. Very strange. Almost like there is a voltage loss in the wiring feed behind the dash.

I found this exact same issue when I installed the TrailTech Striker with voltmeter on my cart.

Voltage drop in old wiring can be significant, so I would up running new leads to the battery pack, to get an accurate reading. (one that matched my Fluke meter)

I may do just the same and run a new dedicated set of wires for the meter straight to the pack. For now I will just safely add .5 to whatever the meter is reading.

I just got done running new cable feeds straight to the battery pack for the meter. The meter now reads .1 lower then my handheld meter, very acceptable. Better then the .6 when using the factory 48v feed behind the dash. So anyone adding a meter to a Precedent I would advise just to run two new cables to the battery pack to get a true reading.

I would put a fuse in that cable back at the battery pack! Any inline fuse will do. (1 amp)
