IQ is the name of the electrical system that came out in 2002. If your cart is a 2001, it's NOT an IQ. It's a "Regen2" Regen1, Regen2, and IQ cars ALL have the "Speed Sensor" on the end of the motor you're referring to. So if he told you he plugged in an IQ scanner on your 2001 he's lying to your face. A Regen2 car doesn't have a scan port. Or is your car really a 2002? What's the serial number?

OK, No response to battery charger or 12v battery. My guess D.O.A.

Does any one know if this is the correct motor for the cart?
motor part # MOT-A2

Is your cart an IQ? Post the serial number. The motor you have is for an IQ.

Tahoe:
The cart was sold to us as a 02.
My son was looking up # on the cart to get reverse switch and other parts and some of the numbers dedicated other years. He thinks it's a frank-en cart the shop pieced together. Where would the scan port be? I will get ser # this afternoon

A couple weird things: We had to push the cart in last night, as we pushed the headlights got brighter.

Today I was flipping it fwd to rev w pedal depressed and it felt like it jumped slightly for a split second.

Roady : I found a post that said hook power to a1 and s2 and it should turn.

no, no, no. Thats not right. I dont know what you read but thats not it. If you did that without unhooking the controller, controller damage can be the result.

You can do this with a charger on 12 volts. Be sure the wheels are off the ground /jackstands

Low Voltage Motor Check (no controller)
This test uses 1 or 2 of the batteries of the battery pack, A few jumper wires and the motor mounted to the golf car axle. (Keeping the motor attached to the axle is necessary as most of today's golf car motors only have a single bearing.)

Low Voltage Motor Check for Shunt, Separately Excited, REGEN, DCS, PDS, IQ Type Cars (no controller)

Carefully remove all cabling from motor. It's always a good idea to mark where each cable was connected to motor.
Connect a couple of jumpers on motor as shown in Fig. A. (Actual terminal locations may vary slightly.)

Fig. A

Bring power from one of the batteries as shown in Fig B.
Make/Break connection should be at location shown in Fig B. A small spark is expected each time you open the connection, so breaking connection at location shown prevents damage to battery or motor terminals.

NOTE - Speed is expected to be low. Don't be alarmed!

Compliments of EMP inc.
