club car wire harness help
ok i was going to change key ignition in my 03 cc ds iq 500 amp alltrax.the ignition is after market.i also have a dash.i didnt think anything about it and didnt unhook battery.i took nut off ignition it fell hit the frame and smoked the green ignition wire along with melting others touching it.im wondering if its even worth replacing or is the controller gonna be bad?and where and how much is the harness the ignition wires are in

The harness is fairly pricy. You can get one from a site sponsor. I've seen this happen before, but only when a customer had an accessory grounded to the frame. There should be nothing hooked to the frame, therefore it shouldn't arc. What's causing the arc? That's the first problem that needs to be addressed.

yes i had the 12v supply grounded to the frame.i can find harness anywhere on line

Not good. That definitely caused your issue. However, there's good news. In my experience when this has happened, it doesn't damage the controller. The last one I did, I ended up taking all the wire loom off of the harness and soldering in new wire.

the harnes is out and loom off it appears it would be a pita to rewire burnt wires.

its in a big knot now.there is atlest 6 wires that got to be changed.2 of them going in to a plug
