Break-in for new batteries?
This is kind of a shoot-off of my other thread about buying new batteries. When I do purchase them, is there anything special I need to do for a break-in period or anything? I'd like to make sure these last as long as possible... so I hate to skip a crucial break-in if such a thing is advisible.

Re: Break-in for new batteries?
There's no particular "Break-in" period for batteries...
Just a few things to remember... Always check your water level when first getting them, then, after every other charge. DO NOT run them so low, that the dash indicator light comes on. and, when new... the batteries will take a few (6 or 7) charges to get their full potential! |

Re: Break-in for new batteries?
new batts come 70 to 80 % so your 1st 10 to 12 charge cycle/discharge cycles are very important......don,t be alarmed if the 1st few times you charge them it takes 15 or 16 hours thats normal.......as stated keep water 1/8 inch over lead plates and don,t overfill thats as bad as letting them run dry.............use distilled water only and make it a regular rutine to lift the seat and grab and tug cables to make sure they are tight...........when you need to clean terminal ends and battery posts do so with a wire brush and do one at a time don,t you don,t miswire anything, if you take care of them you won,t have to use any type of battery spray protector you can just put a thin coat of vasiline over the ends.......................good battery maintence will get you the most from your investment or you can do what 8 out of 10 people do which is put them in and forget about it and ***** every 2 years when they have to replace them again so they buy new batteries again and do the same thing...................................
