Default 6 volt batteries in 48 volt cart

I am looking to buy another project cart and found a 2000 ds with shot batteries. He had 6 volt batteries in it. I would obviously put 8 volt batteries in it. Is there any thing to check out or worry about in going back to the 48 volts it is supposed to be.

I am assuming he had eight 6 volts in it to make 48 volts??? If that is what he had, there is nothing to worry about with putting six 8 volts in it.

Very weird... when you go look at it, see what voltage the motor is- it should have a tag on it. I don't have a clue as to why he put 36v in a 48v cart.

I looked at it last night. It is definitely a 48 volt charging system with round plug and 48 volt charger. Didn't think of checking motor specs. My main concern is it wouldnt have hurt anything running 36 volt other than the 48 V charger ruining the 36 V batteries. I would put new 8 volt batteries in it to return to 48 V. Otherwise it was a very nice and taken. Are of cart other than this guy not knowing what he was doing with the batteries.

Ok, it sounds like it is ready to go for 48v. I would go for it if the price is right.

Go get it and put the right batteries in it. The cart will be very happy to see the power it so desires.
