Default 2001 Club Car DS 48v - Will only go in reverse

I have a 2001 Club Car DS Powerdrive 48 volt that works fine in reverse, but it will only click and not go forward. I have the Parts manual, but I need to pick up a maintenance and service manual. Has this happened to anyone before and is there anything I should look for? Thanks very much!!

There were a few times where I would have to play with the switch to get it to go forward, but now it just won't go at all. I have a feeling it's the F/R switch itself. Do you know which color wire is forward, and which is reverse?

no but if you lift seat and move lever back and forth when its in forward just see what side is making contact and it should be wire or cable on that side............................

On my 2002 DS, the forward cable comes into the F&R switch from the driver's side of the switch. I had a intermintant low power issue in forward gear. Once I looked at the inner F&R switch, I found that the cable was very frayed at the point of attachment to the switch. Check that first. Once I cleaned it up and installed a new connector to the end of the cable, all has been well....

It's either a bad F&R switch or a bad micro switch..... Locate the microswitches behind the F&R switch... On the rearmost micro switch you'll see three wires in this sequence.... Green, Black, White... Unplug all three. Jump the Green to the White. This will bypass the microswitch and the half speed resistor used to regulate reverse speed. Do that and try it.. Does it run in both directions now? If so, replace that microswitch and reattach wires. If you've still got the same problem I'd remove the F&R switch and inspect it. It's probably melted where the contacts meet.

I had an 400amp Alltrax controller which caused this problem. Called them up, traced the wires, sent the controller back to them to test(under warranty) and they replaced it. Put a Curtis controller in and she ran fine, also ran good with the new Alltrax.

Thumbs down Re: 2001 Club Car DS 48v - Will only go in reverse

i have another similar post before i found this one.
i have a 2001 rebuilt in 2006. other than batteries , brakes and bushings.. no problems until yesterday. would not go forward once on the course then it was ok. later in the round it did it several more times. in the parking lot it would not go forward. after 20 or so fnr and key cycles ( although reverse is fine ) and something clicked each time the cart failed to go forward.. it finally went forward and i got the cart home.
batteries check fine . i have f-n-r lever and not the toggle switch and no tow switch.
of course , after i called the dealer , the cart seems to be working ok. it does seem like a hard start in forward and reverse. will post dealer findings when available.
