Help with 12v to 8v conversion wiring
I am installing the Club Car 12v to 8v battery conversion in my '07 Precedent. Following the instructions up to this point has not been too bad. I have ran into a bit of a snag. in wiring up the solenoid with the new wiring harness, I have found a discrepancy in the illustration and my actual solenoid.
Referring to the pics, you will notice the 2 - 16ga. wire connectors on are opposite on my solenoid and the illustration. The blue/white wire with the small connector is on the left side of my solenoid and on the right on the illustration. The solid blue wire with the large connector is visa versa. I would appreciate any feedback on what to do. |

Re: Help with 12v to 8v conversion wiring
They moved the controller to the right side of the solenoid while the stock cart has it to the left side so they switched poles on the solenoid. I know because my setup is completely opposite of their diagram. I did not know you could switch, but I guess it is really a switch so should work, I would follow their diagram.
Since they switched the large poles, it only makes sense that they would switch the small poles as well. But you might want to get verification from Scotty, Shadowman or Tahoedawg before powering up just to be sure you don't blow something up |

The blue/white and blue do not matter which small post they go on, all the solenoid wants to see on the two small post is POS+ and NEG_

It's foolproof.... It will only go one way.... If you look closely one of those connectors is smaller than the other and won't allow for you to put it on the incorrect side.

I do not think he is talking about the controller side he is concerned about the solenoid side. That is why he has his small ones backword because that is how they fit. The question is can they be reversed on the solenoid?

Re: Help with 12v to 8v conversion wiring
Here is what I did.
The smaller will only go on one way due to the different size connectors. I was concerned about the #6 yellow and red. After looking at my solenoid, I found a + on the right hand side. Yes this was the opposite of the diagram as well. I switched the #6 yellow and red, placing the red on the right hand side on the + terminal (you will notice I had it wired on the left hand side in the pic as I was trying to follow the diagram). I have a pic of the way i have it now, again with the red #6 on the + terminal. Apparently CC thinks everyone has the solenoid in the diagram since the #6 yellow will barely reach the controller from that side of the solenoid. Do I have it right? |

Re: Help with 12v to 8v conversion wiring
It doesn't matter how you orient those large wires. It will work either way. But I don't see a pre-charge resistor. Make sure that's on there. It comes in the kit. Also, the little pigtail off of the main red wire has to plug into a small red wire as well. Make sure that's hooked up. I can't see it in the photo.

Also, you notice the yellow and red wires are somewhat in a bind now since I move the red #6 to the + terminal. should I switch them back? |
