Default club car ds solenoid problem??

I have a 93 club car ds, I rode it across the yard and suddenly heard a pop. Smoke started rolling out of it. I was sure that the speed controller had smoked but I noticed the resistor across the solenoid had partially turned black and extremely hot, also the speed controller (curtis black box) was hot. I cut the key switch off, 15 min later I felt the resistor, still extremely hot, so i pulled the leads off of the battery. By the way, it still runs, but it starts smoking if you take off. Any suggestions?????

Im really not sure, by the time I open the seat, its just smoke, and I cant pinpoint it, I will say that it smells like "resistor smoke", but what would cause the solenoid resistor and the controller to get hot? My best guess would be the controller, but I wanted to ask the experts. Also now when it runs, it has no slow take off speed, when you touch the gas pedal its wide open like a dragster...lol

if its running wide open i would think the problem is somewhere in V-glide so open it up and inspect the insides........quite possible thats where smoke is coming from and its burning up, wouldn,t be the 1st time......you,ll need to take front driver side battery out to get a good look but i,ll bet once you open it you,ll see the problem....................................
