High finish voltage

A neighbor has an 2004 Precedent that sat for a year or so. The batteries were stone dead and Im in the process of nursing them along with my 12 volt charger. Its surprising how well they have done so far. I never would have believed it.
I read up on the power drive 2 charger and wanted to be sure that there is not an issue with it as we determine the total amount of money that will go into this cart.
I used 4 known good deep cycle batteries from my pontoon boat to see how his charger would preform. It started out at about 11 amps and has come down to 3 amps or less but I'm getting an on charge voltage of 64 volts and Im not sure its going to shut off. The charger specs say max finish charge voltage of 60volts. I think we have a problem and this is going to be very expensive.

That's fine 63v is about average, if it hits 65-66 then I would start worrying.
PS after a year of sitting your friends batteries are severely compromised. The proof will be in their ability to hold amperage, not voltage. Good luck

Thanks Scotty. Well the good news is the charger has shut off and the resting voltage of my batteries is 52.2 I left his old batteries on charge with my 30 amp lester charger last night and they ended up at 48.2 and the sg is all over the place. Some are 11.75 and a couple are 12.75 so they are toast. Now he needs to decide what to do.
I priced Trojans and Deka which are both in the $1050 range. The Sams Club battery is an agm which I didn't recommend. He also needs a set of tires and wants a back seat kit and light kit installed. It looks like decent tires are $200 a set. Rear seat kit is $300 and light kit is as low as $100 but the light company and I both recommend using a voltage convertor, and its $100. So the parts total is around $1800.00
Has anyone ran the trolling motor type batteries?
My recommendation is put some tire sealer in the worse tire, charge it a few more times and put it on Craigslist as needing new batteries then buy a gas cart.
