80 inch roof install?
Ok I have a new roof, 80 or 88 inches. Looks to be universal so no holes predrilled etc. My question is how have you guys installed one of these? I contacted the seller and got told, "get creative with brackets and spacers". And that may be the honest answer. If so I'd love to see how you guys did it. I've got a 98 cc ds, but my front and rear supports are not factory. The front was broke so I bought one from DIY, and the back one is the one that comes with flip rear seat. My new top has a pretty thick aluminum frame inside of it.

Re: 80 inch roof install?
Typically the supports for those tops are provided by the manufacture and they turn toward the rear of the cart to support the extra top behind the support. They do use 2 small bolts each side to secure them in the rear. If I have a pic I will attach it... I guess get creative was a good answer.

Re: 80 inch roof install?
"Get Creative" was a very good answer actually. There's not real way to do it and there's so many rear seat, brace, height configurations and preferences it's hard to provide instructions because they'll differ drastically from customer to customer.

Mind if I ask where you got it and how much you paid for it?

Re: 80 inch roof install?
I really wish I could say but for some reason my receipt wasn't itemized. I bought it from golf cart outfitters along with the front and rear body as well. I did gloss black on the body and the top is textured black, kinda like a heavy duty garbage can. I paid 785 to my door, I think 80 of that was the shipping. They will also precut and install a light set if you want though that obviously increases the cost. I know I spent a lot but I'm more then pleased with it. It looks great, fits great, the body that is, I'll need a few more days to start "getting creative" with the top

Re: 80 inch roof install?
I put an 80" universal top on my 2003 CC DS. I got creative lol
basically i had to spread the fron and rear struts out about an inch each way to attach it, no spacers. Then i bought a piece 3/4" aluminum square tube from Lowes and cut i to attach to rear support and then attach to rear of roof for more support. I painted the roof and the extra rear supports i made black and it looks pretty good. widening the front makes the windsheild not fit perfectly though too wide at top. i may add a spacer to bring the front supports back in a little. Ill take some pics tomorrow for ya. The pic at left has the roof on it. But i didnt like having no support in rear so i added those homemade rear supports to it. i post a pic |
