OK I'm going to lose it on my new brakes

OK I feel like I'm at the end of my rope. I installed a rear hydraulic brake set. I filled all the lines with fluid, then attempted to "bleed" them. I did so with the resvoir cap on, and couldn't get any fluid out of the bleed valve. I feel like the cap needed to be off. So I did that for an hr, zero bubbles and fluid only coming out. I then put the cap on tight, pumped the brakes nonstop. When I pump them 3-4 times the tires stop and you can't push the cart. When you let off the brake and try to immediately push the brake again, its not stopping, not without pumping again 3-4 times. If there is air in the lines I do not see how, I've pumped almost 20oz of dot 3 through both rear brake calipers. Ive checked every connection, wipped them numerous times with a tissue just to make sure no fluid is leaking, nothing ever showing up on the tissue.

I'm honestly worried I'm going to have to take it somewhere and pay for someone to look at it. I really don't want to do that, but I'm at a serious loss as to how to fix it. Please point me in the right direction and I'll do anything I can to make it happen. Thank You

If you are trying to bleed your brakes by yourself with out a helper , you ARE going to get air in the lines!! No if and or buts!!

You can try gravity bleeding your brake system. Usually how I bleed any brake system where the lines are dry. Make sure the fluid reservoir is higher than the bleed valves at the slave cylinder. Run a clear tube into a clean jar from your bleed valve and start adding brake fluid to the reservoir untill it runs out your bleed valve. I usually bleed about half a bottle of brake fluid before I close the bleeder valve and top off my brake fluid reservoir. You have to make sure the reservoir never runs dry or you will suck air into the lines and then you will have to start over again. Takes a while but has always worked for me. This method works even if the lines are already full, just bleed a half bottle from each wheel. In some rare instances, an air bubble will get trapped at your brake fitting. loosen the fitting and let brake fluid leak from around the fitting if all the air is not expelled from gravity bleeding. If you are trying to bleed by pumping the brakes, have your helper pump the pedal until the brake pedal is firm and hold it. Open bleed valve to release the fluid as the helper continues to press the brake pedal until it stops. have the helper hold the brakes down untill you close the bleeder valve and then he can release the brake. If you are alone, you can bleed the system by placing a tube on the bleeder valve and run the end of the tube into a jar of brake fluid. pump the pedal until no air bubbles appear in the clear tube and close the bleeder valve.

Ok what if no matter how much you pump the brakes it never feels firm, even when pumping does make the wheels stop turning?

That means you have air in the lines. Do it again. Look for places that you could be sucking air in like the feed line from the reservoir? Or any of the many fittings.

You have to keep the bleeder closed. Pump the brakes open bleeder screw. When his foot goes down keep it down and tighten the bleeder screw. Do this a few times. If your doing it the way your doing it you don't get the air out.
