Melted resistor & solenoid

I ran out of luck the other day! I was using a floor jack to lift my cart and did not pay attention to where I was lifting, & evidently shorted the solenoid out as I suddenly had sparks, fire and the whole 9 yards. The resistor (3rd speed) turned white hot and actually melted, with chunks falling on the floor. The wire, mounting bolt & nut lifted right off the solenoid.
So, after changing my pants, and letting everything cool down, I turned the key back on and slightly depressed the accelerator, again sparks flew but the motor turned. (I have since unhooked the batteries.)
Sooooo, I am hoping that the burnt resistor and solenoid was the only damage, and that replacing them will put me back on the road.
Should everything else be OK once they are replaced?

Keep us posted on this, sounds like it should be okay but no telling exactly what you shorted out or what all was involved.... keep us posted. We are learning here LOL

you should be ok with a new 3rd speed resistor coil and solenoid.....keep in mind the resuistor coils are all different thickness and # of loops depending on which speed............................
