Scottyb meter installed
Just installed the meter. I assume this can be wired as to where it does not stay lit all the time? And maybe someone could confirm what I think I am seeing from the readings on the meter. It shows 50.6 after a charge. But during acceleration on an incline will drop as low, so far, to 45.4. I believe this tells me that these 6 year old batteries are not holding up under a load and are therefore useless. Am I correct?

Re: Scottyb meter installed
Voltage drop under a load is expected. Your drop is typical for an incline.

Just seems really slow to me. Almost seems like you'll have to get out and push it up the incline. First cart, so didn't know. Batteries will be 6 years old this Dec. They are Energizers. Not at all familiar with that brand

Re: Scottyb meter installed
6 yr old batteries? You are due for a new set.
You can connect a multi-meter to the pack and record the standing voltage, then put the meter on the seat and observe the voltage reading when you drive uphill. A drop of any more than 5v may indicate a problem with one or more batteries. You can redo the test on the individual batteries to narrow down a battery with a problem. A battery that has a weak cell will drop 2v under load. Anything less than 38.2 is not a full charge......older batteries typically will not hold a full charge. Low pack voltage after charging is an indicator of the problem but, the real problem is a reduced ability to store amperage... equals poor performance and short run time. |

Hey camo, you got yourself a great product and accessory for your cart in that DVM. Not to mention a fine diagnostic tool too.

Re: Scottyb meter installed
I installed my meter to stay light all the time that way I can see whats happening anytime I walk by. One example is that scottyb told me that a pack will drop 1 percent or so each day. By golly he is correct.

Re: Scottyb meter installed
8Point, do you really haul your cart like that... backwards? I would think if you went over 30mph you would loose your windsheild. Are you really hauling it that way?

Re: Scottyb meter installed
I haul my backwards, its the only way it will fit on the trailer. I've towed it to the beach a few times and back and haven't lost the windshield yet. I do tow it behind an SUV though.
